Terms of Service

Last updated September 25, 2026

Acceptance

  • By creating an account or using any part of shell.build, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you use shell.build on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these terms.

The service

  • shell.build provides a web-based workspace for learning about robotics and electronics, including project editing, simulation, and tools for working with compatible hardware (the “Service”). We may update, extend, suspend, or remove features as the Service evolves.
  • The Service is provided for lawful purposes only. You must not use it to violate applicable law, infringe third-party intellectual property, distribute malware, or interfere with the Service or another user’s access to it.

Accounts

  • You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. Notify us immediately at oscar@otbeaumont.me if you believe your account has been compromised.
  • You must be old enough to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction. If you use shell.build while under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian. Accounts are non-transferable.

Your data

  • You retain ownership of the projects, source code, and other data you submit to shell.build. We claim no intellectual property rights over your content.
  • You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, replicate, and transmit your data only as needed to provide, secure, and improve the Service.
  • We will access your content only to provide the Service, respond to a support request you initiate, maintain security, or comply with the law.

Acceptable use

  • You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to shell.build or another user’s data; use the Service to send spam or unsolicited bulk communications; deliberately degrade the Service for others; or abuse, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Service except where permitted by law.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or create a security or legal risk for shell.build, its users, or third parties.

Fees and billing

  • shell.build is currently provided without a paid subscription. If paid plans are introduced, we will present the applicable price and terms before you purchase them. Any future subscriptions will renew only as clearly disclosed at checkout and may be cancelled as described at that time.

Disclaimers and liability

  • The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your projects or hardware will never be lost or damaged.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for a claim arising out of these terms or the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or hardware, to the extent permitted by law.

Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. We will delete or anonymise associated data in accordance with our retention obligations after account closure.
  • We may suspend or terminate an account for violations of these terms, security risks, or prolonged inactivity. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to export your data.

Governing law

  • These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where local mandatory consumer protection law requires otherwise.

Changes

  • We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the updated terms on this page and provide notice by email for material changes where appropriate. Continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms.
